Moving or Relocating
If you move after retirement, it’s important to update your address with SCERS. This ensures you continue receiving your monthly benefit payments, annual tax forms, and other essential communications without interruption.
Even if you already receive payments via direct deposit, SCERS still needs your current mailing address for legal and administrative purposes.
When to Notify SCERS
You should update your address as soon as you:
- Move to a new residence (even temporarily)
- Change your mailing address (e.g., begin using a P.O. Box)
- Relocate out of state or out of the country
How to Update Your Address
There are two ways to update your address with SCERS:
- Preferred Method:
Use the MySCERS portal to securely update your mailing address online. - Alternative Method:
Submit a new Member’s Affidavit (Form 6019) to SCERS by mail or in person. You can also request a digital version via DocuSign.
If You Live Outside California
If you move out of state, your tax situation may change. You may waive California state tax withholding if you’re no longer a California resident; however, your tax withholding status will remain in effect until another form is received. You can make or change your elections by submitting an updated SCERS Tax Withholding Form (Form 6190).
