Ballot Finalized for September Board Elections

Article

The ballot is set for the upcoming SCERS Retirement Board election, following the close of the nomination period on August 1, 2025.

Nominations were accepted for three positions: one Miscellaneous Representative, one Retiree Representative, and one Alternate Retiree Representative.

Martha Hoover, the current Retiree Representative, and David Irish, the current Alternate Retiree Representative, are running unopposed. As a result, they will continue in their roles without the need for an election.

Two candidates are competing for the Miscellaneous Representative seat: incumbent Tepa Banda, Director of Finance at the Sacramento Area Sewer District, and Shelly Cortez, Administrative Services Officer II at the Probation Department. The Miscellaneous Representative seat is held by a current employee in a non-safety position.

Ballots for the election will be mailed to SCERS members in active employment on September 9. Voting will take place by mail from September 15 through September 26. Results are expected to be announced on October 7.
